Singapore 's First Blues Festival Draws in 4,000 Blues Fans

Thosands of blues lovers were treated to a
festival in celebration of blues music at UBLUES Fest 2002, organised by Caldwell Arts and ublues network. The event, Singapore 's first-ever blues festival,was held over the weekend of 13th and 14th July 2002 at Fort Canning Park.

The two-day blues, soul and funk festival featured a collaboration of top-notch artists from USA, Australia and Asia, coming together to celebrate on a common platform promoting cultural exchange, mutual respect and a passion for music.

Highlights for the festival included performances by anchor band - The Holmes Brothers from the USA, as well as Australian bands Blue Shaddy and Rick Steele, to name a few. Joining these internationally renowned acts were Malaysia's renowned artistes,Farid Ali Trio and Singapore's very own blues band -ublues,among others.

Selected artistes also took the opportunity to share their love for the blues through workshops conducted at no extra charge. And, adding to the festival 's carnival atmosphere were cool summer drinks and food available at various booths at the festival.
